I had my 25th birthday party at the Thompson and overall I had a good time. As expected, the room was very nice and we loved the rooftop patio. The club downstairs was not too great but it was fine. Where the Thompson fell short a bit was their service. We ran out of tissues and there were no extra boxes in our room. Getting ice was not easy. One of the bouncers was very rude to one of my friends until he realized that we were guests at the hotel. Other than that, everyone else was polite enough (although not too friendly) and I had a great party.
I don't think I would recommend this place for holding parties; unless it's a toned down party. However, the Thompson would be a great place to have a special girls/guys night out. It also makes a perfect romantic getaway spot and I will go back for their rooftop patio if not for anything else!

Our team held a large fundraiser for the Ride to Conquer Cancer this past Friday and we chose the Jewel because of their amazing staff and food. All of our guests had an incredible time and we couldn't have done it without the help of Maria, Joe and Connie at the hall.
We are all looking forward to doing it again next year bigger and better!!!

I chose to host a charity gala for 300 at Andrew Richard Designs at the end of March 2012 and was so happy with the decision.

From the beginning the event team was such a huge help, making suggestions and ensuring everything ran smoothly.

The venue was beautiful, the hired staff were professional, and the team at Andrew Richard Designs was such a big help with everything.

I recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful and unique event space.

The night went off without a hitch!The entire process of planning and execution was handled fantastically by the staff, very professional and courteous people.Many guests were commenting throughout the evening about the, amazing location, great food and fabulous service - a combination that is rare to find in event venues. I was the mother of the bride and paid for this wedding. From meeting Franchesca, very very knowledgeable and helpful and just amazing I am very happy with everything and food it was a specular night and my husband and the groom set up on stage early in the morning and with two other musicans put on a 1/2 show that blew everyone away. Groom sang to the bride. The sound system is phenomenon it was perfect that you Francesca, Theresa, Neil and Mike cheers

Wow! I used to go to 99 Sudbury for private functions all the time there and I recently went back and they have done some beautiful reno and decorations. It is such a lovely venue in a great location. I am definitely looking forward to going there again. The staff has always gone above and beyond to make the special occasion I attended a night to remember! I highly recommend checking it out! cannot even begin to express how pleased we were with the Capitol Event Theatre, where we held our May 2011 wedding. Everything about our wedding surpassed our expectations. Our guests were so impressed with the venue and loved the fun atmosphere. The huge bar and lounge area really set a fun tone and create a social setting unlike a standard wedding/banquet hall. The grandeur of the main room (with hardwood floors and a huge chandelier and stage) is classy and traditional, but with a modern vibe. We also loved that we could use the original marquee outside to put our own names and customized posters.

We held both our ceremony and our reception at the Capitol, with a cocktail reception on the Mezzanine level in between.

The meal was delicious, and we received such great feedback on all the various menu options (we started with a broccoli soup with goat cheese ravioli in it, and for the entrée, guests had an choice of chicken or braised short ribs – the nice thing was, they got to order their choice AT the venue, rather than having to make up their mind in advance via the RSVP. For dessert, we had crème brulée, and my Maid of Honour tells me it was the best dessert she ever had). We have heard nothing but raving reviews, even from the celiac vegetarians, who must have been a challenge for the chef. The food was still of top quality - my braised short ribs fell off the bone and practically melted in my mouth – and the presentation was also impressive. The late night snacks we chose were comfort foods – mini grilled cheese, sliders, and regular and sweet potato fries. Everyone enjoyed the meal so much that we heard many people say that were too full to enjoy the late night snacks. A good problem to have!

But above all else, the service was the most notably impressive aspect of the day. The staff at the Capitol were so incredibly accommodating to any and every request we made. Upon our arrival, my Mom asked how difficult it would be for me to get a cup of tea to calm my nerves before the ceremony began. We were worried that we would be putting the staff out during a very busy time - but the staff were so eager to help, and delivered a hot cup of tea to the “Green Room” (bridal suite) faster than we could have imagined. They also ensured that the Green Room was well stocked with water, wine, and anything else the bridal party might have wanted. They servers kept asking us if there was *anything* we wanted. We truly felt like VIPs, all night long.

During the dinner, the staff kept the napkins folded on the tables. And one thing that really impressed our guests – at each table, the plates were all laid by the servers at the exact same time. It felt like such a classy affair!

The bar staff (who even concocted a yellow drink to match with our wedding colours) and serving staff were amazing - so personable, so accommodating, and of great spirits all night long. All this while maintaining top-notch professionalism and class. Our guests truly felt welcomed, and I believe that the friendliness of the staff significantly contributed to that.

Leading up to the event, Carmelinda and Katelyn (a student I believe, who has since moved on) were both very pleasant to deal with, and quite organized. They really ensured that all our special requests were made. My only issue, which really had no impact on my day – was with the in-house A/V guys (Evolved Entertainment), who were slow to respond to emails and not overly helpful. We brought in our own DJ, but had to still pay $750 to use the Capitol’s audio system.

We cannot stop talking about what a perfect day it was. We recognize what a unique and customized event it was, and don't believe that we could have achieved that same feeling at any other venue. We have not one single regret about our day. We will be very quick to recommend the Capitol to anyone looking to throw a big event.

We were fortunate to have the Royalton Hospitality cater our pre wedding luncheon at our home. They did an amazing job!! It was 5 star right from the linens to the food!! The professional staff served our guests with class. We were able to take pictures and enjoy our family members while The Royalton took care of everything else. Would definitely reccomend and use them again.

Went to La Maquette for Summerlicious last year with high expectations. Obviously this place is past its prime. The food was clearly pre-prepared in an unacceptable way; meat was dry, jus was coagulated and had clearly been sitting for quite some time. Disheveled waiting staff in mismatching and untidy/un-ironed shirts forgot our order, brought us the wrong wine, and in general did a poor job of executing service. Will never return and will do my very best to prevent others from wasting their time and money.

Brassaii is a beautiful venue conveniently located on King Street. I attended an event there last month and the service and food was EXCELLENT! I will definitely go back and am going to have my 30th Birthday party there for sure! :)

I had a wonderful time at my wedding reception. The staff at Platinum Convention Center did a great job at managing and made sure that everything went smoothly. I can't even begin to describe how great the food selection was and how well it was actually prepared and served. For many months afterward, I had family and friends tell me that this was some of the best food they had at a wedding.

The venue itself is beautiful with large foyers and chandeliers.

Overall, the quality of service was exceptional. The guys at Platinum incorporated all of my requests and really took away much of the stress. They made it seem easy to organize a large wedding!

I would recommend this venue to anyone without reservations.

Reservation was made the past Saturday Feb 12, 2011 for 7:15pm. We, 2 families comprising of 4 adults and 4 children ages 3 to 12, were there on time. We stood at the entrance (indoor) for 15-20 minutes while the restaurant "prepares" our table though the place was only 1/3 filled. Half dozen other reservations at similar time i.e. 7:30pm, were shown to their tables immediately. We finally got seated and sat there for 10 minutes without anyone greeting or even pouring water for us. When the waitress finally arrived at our table we asked a few questions and listened to her lame excuses and decided to leave but prior to leaving we asked to speak to the manager, who we gave a few minutes to show up but did not so we just left. Could not figure out why we received no service (as opposed to bad service) and the following were concluded:Too many children?We were too casually dressed?We were Asian?Only the people who worked there that evening knows of the answer, which we do not care to find out but felt completely INSULTED with the whole experience.There is an ABUNDANCE of fine restaurants around the GTA. What makes this horrible restaurant think they're all that we can not understand but this is certainly not the way to treat any customers who walk through their door! Those poor starving children of ours....thankfully the restaurant we went to afterwards more than made up for the TERRIBLE experience we had at Castello.
